Bank Vocabulary list

1. Account – A record of financial transactions for an individual or business. 
Sentence: I opened a savings account to start saving for my vacation.  

2. Balance – The amount of money available in an account. 
Sentence: I checked my account balance before making a large purchase.  

3. Deposit – Money placed into a bank account. 
Sentence: I deposited my paycheck into my checking account this morning.  

4. Withdrawal – The act of taking money out of a bank account. 
Sentence: I made a withdrawal of $100 from the ATM.  

5. Loan – Money borrowed from a bank that must be paid back with interest. 
Sentence: I applied for a loan to buy a new car.  

6. Interest – The cost of borrowing money or the earnings from a savings account. 
Sentence: My savings account earns 2% interest per year. 
 
7. Mortgage – A loan used to buy a house or property. 
Sentence: I have a 30-year mortgage on my home.  

8. Overdraft – When you spend more money than you have in your account. 
Sentence: I was charged a fee because my account went into overdraft.  

9. Transaction – Any action involving money moving in or out of an account. 
Sentence: The bank notifies me of every transaction via email.  

10. ATM (Automated Teller Machine) – A machine used to withdraw or deposit money. 
Sentence: I withdrew cash from the ATM near my office.  

11. Statement – A document showing all transactions for an account over a period. 
Sentence: I review my bank statement every month to track my expenses. 
 
12. Credit – Money that a bank allows a person to use and pay back later. 
Sentence: I have a credit limit of $5,000 on my card.  

13. Debit Card – A card that allows direct payment from a bank account. 
Sentence: I used my debit card to pay for groceries.  

14. Credit Score – A number that represents a person’s creditworthiness. 
Sentence: A high credit score makes it easier to get a loan.  

15. Savings Account – A bank account designed for storing and earning interest on money. 
Sentence: I put a portion of my salary into my savings account every month.  

16. Checking Account – A bank account used for daily transactions. 
Sentence: My paycheck is deposited into my checking account every two weeks. 
 
17. Wire Transfer – The electronic transfer of money from one account to another. 
Sentence: I sent a wire transfer to my supplier overseas.  

18. PIN (Personal Identification Number) – A secret code used for security at ATMs and card transactions. 
Sentence: You should never share your PIN with anyone.  

19. Teller – A bank employee who handles transactions with customers. 
Sentence: The teller helped me deposit my check.  

20. Certificate of Deposit (CD) – A savings option with a fixed interest rate and term. 
Sentence: I invested in a 12-month certificate of deposit for a higher interest rate.
